USF men’s basketball adds Arkansas State transfer, Kasen Jennings enters portal

Senior guard Kasen Jennings has announced he has entered the transfer portal one day after the hiring of new head coach Bryan Hodgson from Arkansas State.
South Florida also added its first transfer of the transfer portal window early Tuesday morning.
Jennings transferred to USF in 2023 after the hiring of former coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, but missed his first season at USF due to a foot injury.
“This has been an extremely difficult decision, as my love for the city of Tampa runs deep,” he said Tuesday in an Instagram post.
Jennings is the fourth player to enter the transfer portal in the past three days. Sophomore Jayden Reid, freshman CJ Brown and fellow senior Kobe Knox all entered the transfer portal.
Knox also declared for the NBA draft on Monday in an Instagram post.
Both Jennings and Brown said they are open to returning to USF in their Instagram posts.

The Bulls lost three prominent starters in last year’s transfer portal.
Forwards Kasean Pryor and Chris Youngblood transferred to Louisville and Alabama, respectively.
Guard Selton Miguel also transferred last season to Maryland.
Both Alabama and Maryland are in the Sweet Sixteen of March Madness.

In 2024, Jennings averaged 7.1 points per game and 1.9 rebounds as the Bulls went 13-19, losing in the second round of the AAC tournament to Wichita State
“To Bulls nation, thank you for showing up and standing by me through every high and low of this journey.” Jennings said on Instagram. “The past two years have tested me both emotionally and physically,”
The NCAA 30-day transfer window opened on Monday.
The Bulls had also had their first transfer addition early Tuesday morning. Junior forward Izaiyah Nelson announced his decision in an Instagram post.
Nelson averaged 10.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game last season at Arkansas State.
In the second round of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT), Nelson scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 65-63 loss against North Texas.
“After talking to my family and with the coaching change I will be following coach Bryan Hodgson to The University of South Florida,” he said on Instagram.
