USF’s Jayden Reid enters transfer portal after two seasons

USF’s Jayden Reid, the sophomore guard who led the Bulls in points, assists and steals this season, has announced he will enter the transfer portal.
“I will forever cherish the lifelong relationships and memories I have created at USF,” Reid said on Instagram on Sunday.
The move comes just over a week after USF announced a “national search” for a new head coach after Ben Fletcher served as interim coach this season. The Bulls ended their season with a second-round AAC tournament loss to Wichita State on March 13.
“For the past two years I have been grateful to represent the University of South Florida as a student athlete,” he said. “We made history and went through some tough times together.”
A three-star recruit from Long Island, Reid, 20, made an immediate impact as soon as he stepped onto the Yuengling Center court.

Reid was a cornerstone of former coach Amir Abdur-Rahim’s lone season at USF.
Reid was named to the AAC All-Freshman team in 2024 after appearing in all 33 games. His 101 assists are the sixth most in USF history by a freshman. He shot 47.5% from three, the best percentage by a freshman in program history.
Across 36 starts, Reid averaged 9.8 points and 3.3 assists per game in his two seasons at USF.
He thanked Abdur-Rahim – who recruited Reid out of high school – for “believing in him.” Abdur-Rahim died unexpectedly in October.
Freshman CJ Brown — another USF guard who saw significant play in his first year — also entered the portal Sunday. He was the top-ranked point guard in the state of Georgia coming out of high school.
Brown was named to the AAC All-Freshman Team after averaging 7.2 points per game in 23 starts.
The NCAA 30-day transfer portal window officially opens Monday.
