Rec closes down due to power outage

The Recreation and Wellness Center has shut down until further notice due to a power blackout, according to the Rec’s instagram page latest post.
There was no comment on when power is expected to be restored, according to a statement from The Rec to The Oracle.
An emergency text message regarding the outage was sent to On50 – a student housing complex located near campus – residents stating lightning had struck a nearby transformer that services the USF area.
It is unknown if other USF buildings were affected by the blackout at the time of publication.
TECO Energy is working to restore power to the area, according to the text.
