USF wide receiver arrested in Polk County prostitution sting

Sophomore wide receiver Bailey Purcell was arrested Feb. 11 for solicitation of prostitution, lewdness and assignation, according to a report from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on Feb. 12 after posting a $500 bond, according to the police report. 

Purcell was one of 213 people arrested, according to a report, in what the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday called “Operation Traffic Stop,” a seven-day undercover human trafficking investigation.

Purcell saw action in one game in the 34-14 win over Temple in 2021, which is one of the four winning games USF has seen over the last three seasons.

USF Athletics has yet to comment on the information.
