Florida universities will have to shift their fall commencement ceremonies online after the State University System issued a memorandum on Wednesday afternoon.
The State University System encouraged institutions to develop alternate plans for fall commencement ceremonies, including rescheduling spring and summer 2020 commencement plans that had already been postponed to this fall.
“While we understand the disappointment this may cause, universities were creative in their spring and summer commencement festivities, and each of them found ways to celebrate their graduates and their achievements. We are confident that the fall graduates will be equally celebrated,” the memorandum said.
USF hasn’t made an official announcement yet about fall 2020 commencement. This is the third time graduation ceremonies have been postponed as a result of the novel coronavirus.
