Pitcher arrested, charged with felony after hit-and-run

USF senior pitcher Kevin Quackenbush was arrested and charged with leaving an accident scene with injuries near USF’s Tampa campus early Sunday morning.

Quackenbush, 21, crashed into a police car on North McKinley Drive and then drove off, according to a police report. Police found and arrested Quackenbush, who made a team-high 25 relief appearances last season, at his apartment soon after the incident.

Officer David Michelson, the crash victim, suffered minor lacerations. Quackenbush, who wasn’t hurt, was released from Hillsborough County jail Sunday morning on $2,000 bond.

Quackenbush has been suspended indefinitely from the baseball team.
