USF grabs conference win
USF wasted little time before forcing its will on its latest shutout victim.
Sophomore forward Hasani Sinclair scored two goals to help the Bulls (6-2-1) to their second consecutive shutout, a 4-0 win over Syracuse (1-5-3) on Saturday night at the USF Soccer Stadium.
“As we move further into October, we are starting to understand who we are,” said USF coach George Kiefer. “I think it was from top-to-bottom a very good performance.”
Also scoring goals were senior defender Andre Mittoo and junior midfielder Santi Alexis.
Since losing to then-No. 6 Connecticut on Sept. 24, the Bulls have outscored their two opponents 6-0. It was the Bulls’ sixth shutout this season.
“I’m really pleased with the team, the guys that started and the guys that came off the bench,” Kiefer said. “Right now, we are training the mentality, and the mentality is getting right.”
Senior goalkeeper Jeff Attinella had two saves (34 overall this season) for his 23rd career shutout. The Bulls outshot the Orange 12-4.
USF will travel to Boca Raton to face Florida Atlantic on Wednesday.
