Women’s tennis travels to VCU
<!–{The South Florida women’s tennis team travels to Virginia Commonwealth this weekend to take on the Rams at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.
No. 34 VCU comes into Sunday’s match with a 6-4 record. The short-handed Bulls are still in search of their first victory after losing their fourth consecutive match. USF, which is missing Lauren Shumate and Janette Bejlkova to injury, was swept last weekend by Florida State.
The Rams are led by freshman Ana Bara, who holds a 4-5 record in the No. 1 singles position. Her twin sister Alex is also 4-5 on the year. The Bara twins, who are from Romania, are the No. 1 doubles tandem on the team.
Jessica Zok, No. 1 single for the Bulls, will look to rebound from two difficult matches last weekend. Zok fell to Furman’s Laura Gioia and Florida State’s Katie Rybakova. Zok said the team is trying to build some wins with experience.
“We benefit from every match, win or lose,” she said. “Each match is more experience for us. We learn our weaknesses and learn to work together as a team.”
