Bulls will host five teams
Coming off a 44-20 season and a NCAA Tournament berth, the USF softball team looks to take steps toward a spot in the Women’s College World Series.
And it all begins this weekend.
The Bulls host the USF Louisville Slugger Tournament and will play five teams — including UNC Greensboro and in-state rivals North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast.
This year’s team is on the national radar. The Bulls are on the cusp of the top 25 National Poll and are predicted to finish second in the Big East.
This season, the Bulls will rely on the pitching of seniors Cristi Ecks and Bree Spence. Ecks is returning from a season-ending injury while Spence is returning from a medical redshirt.
On offense the Bulls will be led by junior designated hitter JoJo Medina and senior second basemen Britta Giddens. The pair combined to hit 14 home runs and 69 RBIs last season.
Expectations are high at USF, and the Bulls expect to start the season off by defending their home field.
