THE DAY AHEAD

An acclaimed author and associate professor of history visits USF today to address an uncomfortable part of Florida’s history: slavery.

The free lecture, “Spanish Slavery and Florida,” will take place from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Grace Allen Room, located on the fourth floor of the Library.

Landers has written, co-written and edited a plethora of books on slavery in Florida, including Black Society in Spanish Florida, Colonial Plantations and Economy in Florida and The African American Heritage of Florida. Landers received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 1988.
