USF v. UCF still Saturday
Ticket holders awaiting the Bulls’ football game against the University of Central Florida Knights may have been surprised Monday morning when they were told in an official e-mail that the game was postponed to an unspecified date and time.
USF Athletics reassured concerned fans and local reporters that an e-mail sent to ticket holders containing the message was an error and that the game was to go on as scheduled.
USF Athletics spokesman Chris Freet said the e-mail was the result of an error that occurred when Ticketmaster employees were trying to alert ticket-holders of the early kickoff.
Bonnie Poindexter, spokeswoman for Ticketmaster, called the message a “unique programming error.”
According to Freet, Ticketmaster corrected the e-mistake in an hour and sent another message to ticket holders confirming the game will begin at the originally posted time.
Ticketmaster did not release the number of tickets sold for the event, Poindexter said, because the information is shared only with event organizers.
