Men’s soccer doing well in Big East

The USF men’s soccer team (6-3, 5-0 Big East) won its fifth straight game Saturday, defeating Villanova (4-5-1, 3-2-1 Big East) 4-2 at the USF Soccer Stadium.

Sophomore Simon Schoendorf netted two goals including the game winner in the second half, as freshman Jordan Seabrook scored the other two.

The Bulls now sit atop the Red Division of the Big East men’s soccer standings.USF saw a stretch of success last season when it opened the season with a nine-game unbeaten streak, though the Bulls started 2005 with a 1-3 record through the first four games.

An ankle injury to forward Hunter West has the senior still sidelined but players like Seabrook, Schoendorf, Joris Claessens and Rodrigo Hidalgo have all stepped up and propelled the team to a No. 25 ranking as of Sept. 26 and upsets over then-No. 16 Seton Hall and then-No. 21 Georgetown.
