Men blank Kickers
Many players got involved when USF men’s soccer team defeated the St. Pete Kickers 4-0 Friday at the USF Soccer Stadium.
Nineteen Bulls saw action in the win, giving coach George Kiefer a preview of what’s to come this season.
“It was a good performance from the guys – start to finish”, Kiefer said. “And the thing that worked out the best was that after two weeks of hard work we were able to reward so many guys with playing time. Everyone was on the same page – from the guys who started the game to those who finished it. It was nice to have so many combinations of attacking players.”
All four USF goals came in the second period. Kevin King got USF on the board with a goal in the 50th minute. A give-and-go between King and West, inside the area, resulted in the goal.
West got a goal of his own five minutes later when he headed a cross past the Kickers goalkeeper. Osmany Hernandez and Simon Schoendorf both added goals in the closing minutes of the game.
With the win, USF closed out an undefeated preseason.
The Bulls play Jacksonville to open the 2004 season Wednesday at 5 p.m.
