Groves honored by conference
Right fielder Holly Groves is the Conference USA Hitter of the Week for March 11-17. Groves went 12-for-23 (.522 average) in four doubleheaders for the Bulls, who won all eight games to improve to 16-20-1.
A sophomore transfer from UAB, Groves hit safely in each of the eight games with five doubles, a triple, a home run and 13 RBI. She also walked five times and scored 10 runs, as the Bulls won both ends of doubleheaders against Temple, Manhattan, Quinnipiac and Charlotte by a combined score of 57-18. Including a 6-1 win March 9 versus Northern Illinois, the Bulls have won nine consecutive games.
Groves leads the Bulls with a .358 batting average and 39 hits. In her only season at UAB, she made the C-USA All-Freshman Team after the 2000 season.
