USF sits at No. 42 among all public universities in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking, as announced Sunday.

The university rose four spots from last year, making this the highest USF has ever ranked.

Among all universities, public or private, USF now ranks No. 97. This is the first time it has made it to the top 100.

USF continues to be the fastest-rising university. In the past 10 years, USF has risen 52 spots among all public universities, and 73 spots among all universities. No other university has risen higher in that time frame, according to a Monday press release.

President Rhea Law’s repeated goal has been for USF to become a top 25 public university, and she said it is on route for that.

“USF’s standing in the rankings is a testament to the hard work and success of our faculty, staff and students, who make an impact in our communities every day,” she said in a Monday release.

USF shares the No. 42 spot with Auburn; the New Jersey Institute of Technology, University of California, Merced; University of Colorado Boulder; and University of Illinois-Chicago.
