Bulls place a pair in tourney top five
Tele Wightman and Ricky Carrillo finished in the top five at the season-opening Raisin? Cane Classic at Southern Miss, leading the Bulls to a fifth-place team finish Tuesday at the Cranebrake Golf Course.
Wightman carded 67, 69 and 74 to finish in second place (206), four strokes behind Tim Yelverton of Southern Miss. Carrillo shot rounds of 72, 68 and 72 for a total of 212 and a fifth-place finish. Also representing USF were Ryan Shears (228), Jay Cavanagh (229) and Brad Quiri (231).
USF?s total of 871 was good for fifth place out of 13 teams. The tournament was won by Southern Miss (850).
Sailing team wins Intersectional at Notre Dame
The USF sailing team won the Irish Intersectional at Notre Dame Sunday, beating 14 other schools. The win was USF?s first major intersectional victory in four years. Leading the way for the Bulls were Genoa Griffin, Ali Deese, Garth Reynolds and Krista Krupinski. The team?s total of 87 was enough to beat nearest rivals Wisconsin (114), Cornell (135) and host Notre Dame (154).
