New Sprouts location to open near USF Tampa campus on Friday
A new Sprouts Farmers Market in Uptown Tampa will open this Friday, providing healthier grocery options for the community.
The store, located at the University Mall on 2150 E Fowler Ave., will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m. to commemorate the opening. Typical store hours will be from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Sprouts’ goal is to offer healthy and natural products at an affordable price, according to its website. Sprouts’ stores also include a Market Corner Deli, offering customers items like sides, fully-prepared entrees or grab-and-go meals.
Menu items at the deli include soups, salads and entrees like citrus herb chicken and grilled atlantic salmon.
The grocery store will be a part of the Research, Innovation, Technology, Habitat and Medicine shopping district, which is a 100-acre project intended to transform the University Mall area into a tech center with housing, retail, hotels and entertainment, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Most recently, Look Cinemas opened a dine-in movie theater spot in the mall in 2021.
Sprouts signed a lease for a 23,200-square-foot location in 2021 with its development firm RD Management LLC, according to the Tampa Bay Times article. This will be the grocery store’s 43rd Florida location.
Once doors open at 7 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday, the first 200 customers on each day will receive a free reusable bag filled with samples, according to Sprouts’ website. On Friday only, the first 400 customers will receive a free long stem rose from Falcon Farmers Floral.
Small events will be held throughout the weekend, including “Guess the Weight” contests, face painting, fruit carvings.
