Sweat drafted at No. 14 by MLS

USF men’s soccer senior defender Ben Sweat was drafted 14th overall in the Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Thursday by the Columbus Crew.

Sweat started all 21 matches for the Bulls in his senior season and was named All-American Athletic Conference First-Team. Sweat played in 78 games as a Bull, a USF individual record.

Crew Chairman Anthony Precourt tweeted the team “likely would have taken him at 4th overall, a win for us.”

Sweat was projected to go 13th overall to Seattle by the most recent TopDrawerSoccer.com mock draft.
