Harry Potter sport brought to life on campus

Using PVC pipes instead of flying brooms and the Marshall Student Center lawn instead of Hogwarts grounds, students at USF are bringing the fictional game of “Quidditch” to life.

Based on the magical game created by J.K. Rowling for her Harry Potter series, the idea has become a real-life sport — popular on college campuses — thanks to the International Quidditch Association, which has outlined rules for the sport and registered official teams across the country.

The USF group, not currently receiving school funding, hopes to play in the Swamp Cup in Gainesville in mid-March.
