House passes resolution honoring Tucson victims

WASHINGTON – The House has unanimously passed a resolution honoring the victims of the Tucson shootings.

By voice vote Wednesday, lawmakers approved the measure after a day of tributes and prayers for Arizona Democrat Gabrielle Giffords, who is recovering from a gunshot to the head in the rampage that left six people dead.

The resolution honors all 19 people shot last Saturday as Giffords spoke with constituents in a grocery store parking lot in Tucson, Ariz. It also says the House resolves not to be intimidated by such acts of violence.

Security officials, meanwhile, briefed lawmakers and their aides on how to stay safe in their districts.
