USF edges Texas Tech
USF rebounded nicely after a 77-75 overtime loss to No. 23 BYU on Friday, beating Texas Tech 64-61 in its last game of the South Padre Invitational on Saturday.
Junior forward Ron Anderson Jr. scored a team-high 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Anderson was one of five Bulls in double-figures.
Sophomore guards Jawanza Poland and Shaun Noriega added 12 and 13 on 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range, respectively.
USF trailed 19-9 but took a 35-32 lead into halftime.
The Bulls return home against Virginia Commonwealth on Wednesday.
Women lose
After a 59-38 win against UAB on Friday, the Bulls (4-3) lost to Samford (3-2) 64-47 at the Samford Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday.
Junior guard Andrea Smith led the team once again with 16 points, shooting 6-of-14 from the floor. Senior forward Leondra Doomes-Stephens added 13 points.
USF begins a four-game home stand on Tuesday against Florida Atlantic, and the team plays its first conference game against No. 1 Connecticut on Thursday.
