Student arrested for battery

University Police (UP) arrested USF student Barry Gordon Paulk at 2:23 a.m. Tuesday for battery.

Paulk was charged with tampering with a witness, felony and misdemeanor battery.

UP received a call around 11:51 p.m. from a student at the Business Administration building saying he was being battered by another student. According to the UP report, Paulk hindered the victim from completing the 911 call.

The report said that Paulk hit, punched and fought with the student, causing swelling to the head and abrasions to both knees.

The victim gave a sworn statement about the incident, and Paulk admitted to hitting the victim.

As of Tuesday night, Paulk remained in jail with a $500 bond for the battery charge and no bond on the felony.
