Classes still on despite Math/Physics building gas leak

Though a natural gas leak caused the Math/Physics building to be evacuated, classes have not been interrupted in the Math/Physics auditorium. Noon exams scheduled for the building will occur as scheduled, said Cheryl Kirstein, associate dean of research and scholarship.

Police on the scene said the Math/Physics building has been secured and inspected by the Tampa Fire Department, and is safe for students, faculty and staff to use.

The evacuation occurred around 10:30 a.m., after a student reported a gas leak in the basement. The fire department announced that the building was safe for use at 11:40 a.m.
