Men win out

The University of South Florida men’s tennis team (7-2) – which has charged up the national rankings in recent weeks – hosted the Villanova Wildcats at the USF Varsity tennis courts Wednesday.
USF showed it is a Big East contender after taking all nine matches without dropping a single set and winning the series 7-0.
USF’s No. 1 singles player Mahmoud Hamed was unable to play, but Lucas Jovita, who is ranked 79th in the nation, covered well for him, defeating Villanova’s Dmitri Chimerakis 6-2, 6-0.
The USF freshman trio of Jovita, Nusslein and Adderley has a combined 21-7 on the season, according to GoUSFBulls.com.
“You can’t say enough about the effort these guys have put in this year,” coach Don Barr said. “It’s great for the future when you can have freshman contribute right away.”
