Softball comes home for doubleheaders following eight-game road trip

The softball team finally gets to play in the friendly confines of the USF Softball Field after an eight-game road trip. The Bulls went 4-2 over the road trip and are No. 4 in the Big East.
The Bulls host Providence in a doubleheader today, and Connecticut arrives for a doubleheader Sunday. With the Big East Tournament less than two weeks away, the Bulls are jockeying for position with eight conference games remaining on the schedule.
With the sweep of Notre Dame last week, the Bulls hold a tiebreaker over the Fighting Irish, who sit in the No. 3 spot. Coach Ken Eriksen believes those two wins proved this year’s club has the talent to win the Big East.
“I think there is a big monkey off our back after sweeping Notre Dame in their house,” Eriksen said. “Even in the 2-0 losses to DePaul, we were in those games and figured out we can play.”
USF needs to take care of business against Providence, as No. 9 Connecticut is just two games behind the Bulls in the loss column and one game shy in the win column.
