A man claiming to be a used book salesman stole at least 10 textbooks from a professor’s office last week, according to a release from University Police.
The unidentified professor left her office Thursday afternoon without locking it. A staff assistant who later entered saw the subject standing inside the dark office. The suspect then told the assistant he was a used book salesman right before leaving, according to UP.
The professor later discovered that 10 to 12 books were missing from her office, the release stated.
UP conducted a search but didn’t find the suspect, who is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot-6 with reddish short hair and freckles.
Phone calls to UP late Sunday were not immediately returned.
