Men’s golf racks up tournament win
The men’s golf team scored 12-under (852) to win the Arkansas State Indian Classic at Sage Meadows Golf Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Bulls won the 16-team tournament by two strokes, with the University of New Orleans coming in second at 854 and Louisiana-Lafayette placing third at 857.USF’s last team win was at the 12-team Adams Cup Invitational on Sept. 26-27 in Rhode Island.
Three Bulls individually shot below-par rounds. Junior Tyler Hitchcock led the team with a career-low tournament score of 210. Hitchcock finished 6-under, after shooting even 72 in the first round and 3-under 69s on the final 36 holes.
Senior Kevin Tilbury and freshman Raj Nahal each shot 1-under 215s to tie for 15th. Tilbury and Nahal’s 215s were both USF career-lows in a tournament, while Nahal’s 70 was a career-low for a round.
Senior Justin Fetcho, who tied for 27th, recorded a 1-over 217, and junior Jason Elliott shot a registered 221 to tie for 46th.- Staff report
