Modest Mouse

Isaac Brock, lead singer of Modest Mouse, has a signature vocal talent that imbues this Washington-based indie-rock outfit with a desperately urging sound that is absolutely incomparable. Most will recognize the band for their poppy single, “Float On” from the 2004 album Good News for People Who Love Bad News. While that song is by no means bad, it is in the dark and brooding moments of The Moon & Antarctica that Modest Mouse can be truly appreciated. Lyircs such as, “Well, died sayin’ something, but didn’t mean it / Everyone’s life ends, but no one ever completes it / Dry or wet ice, they both melt and you’re equally cheated,” from the track “Dark Center of the Universe” exemplify the somber side of Modest Mouse that is somehow missing from their more popular Good News.
