Katy Rose

This album tells the story of Katy Rose’s loss of innocence through bubble-gum metaphors such as, “You drew the sparkle back into my eyes with your colored pencil / Tracing the years of my hunger like a plastic stencil,” from the song “Enchanted.” Rose is like a sweeter and more sarcastic version of an early Fiona Apple. Rose’s most prolific achievement is her song “Overdrive,” which was featured in the 2004 blockbuster Mean Girls, in which she sings of cherry cola and love that stings like a bad tattoo. “Snowflake,” showcases her talent as a poet and vocalist as she longs for snow in Los Angeles, “I’ve lost my mind in wanderlust / My heart cannot be found / My body yearns for the warmth of snow / But the sun keeps pouring down.”
