The story: The Bulls (23-16) host a double header against the Towson Tigers (11-12) today starting at 4 p.m. Towson has a 1-3 road record, while USF is 15-8 at home. Both teams have a 10-5 record in their last 15 games. The Bulls are led by senior shortstop Christie Chapman, who was recently named softball’s Big East Player of the Week. Chapman is coming off a week in which she accounted for eight runs, eight RBI, three triples and two home runs.
Freshman pitcher Cristi Ecks leads the team with a 0.89 ERA and has only surrendered 14 earned runs in 24 appearances. Catcher Jennifer Hastings of Towson is second on the team in batting average (.365), slugging percentage (.508), RBI (11). Her three home runs put her in a tie for the team lead.
