Dickson, Hudspeth receive C-USA awards
Sophomore forward Jessica Dickson and sophomore pitcher Casey Hudspeth were each honored this week by Conference USA.
Dickson, who scored 34 points in USF’s win over UAB on Saturday, was named C-USA’s Co-Player of the Week along with DePaul’s Jenni Dant for the week ending Feb. 27.
Dickson also had 15 points and nine rebounds in USF’s win at UAB on Feb. 20 and is averaging 17.1 points a game this season.
Hudspeth, a right-handed junior, pitched eight shutout innings and struck out nine without a walk in USF’s 8-0 win against Jacksonville on Friday.
Hudspeth has struck out 32 batters this season and sports a tidy 2.31 ERA, both team bests.
Dickson and the Bulls are preparing for the C-USA Tournament, which begins on Thursday in Charlotte, N.C. Fifth-seeded USF will face No. 11 seed Southern Miss. With a win, the Bulls would then face No. 4 seed TCU on Friday.
An All-American candidate, this is Dickson’s second C-USA Player of the Week Award. She got her first during the 2003-04 season.
