Women’s golf finishes eleventh in season-opening tourney
With two freshmen in the lineup, women’s golf finished 11th out of 17 teams in its season opener yesterday at the Cougar Classic in Hanahan South Carolina.
Senior Megan Cushman led the team, finishing at 226 after three rounds, while Daniella Ronderos and Mary Calderon, both freshmen, finished at 234 and 235 respectively. Their scores were the second and third best of the Bulls’ team of five.
Two other seniors, Jameica Duncombe and Jill Crowe, participated in the classic. Duncombe shot a 240, while Crowe shot a 245.
The Bulls finished 43 shots behind first place Notre Dame, which shot a 932. Cushman was only 12 shots behind Miami’s medalist Tina Miller who finished two under par at 214.
USF golf will see action again in a little over two weeks when it travels to Kentucky and play in the Wildcat Invitational Oct. 3 and 4.
