Arts and Sciences dean named

USF President Judy Genshaft announced during Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting that Renu Khator has been named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Khator has worked at USF since 1985 and has served as interim dean in arts and sciences, the university’s largest college, for the past two years.

Before coming to USF, Khator received her bachelor’s degree at Kanpur University in India and her master’s and Ph.D. in the field of political science from Purdue University.

Khator has published four books and numerous articles during her time at USF. While interim dean, she was responsible for recruiting 53 new faculty members and appointing 12 chairs.

Khator was named dean over five other final applicants.
