What’s that construction near the Marshall Student Center?
It’s been an eyesore. It’s been the cause of occasional foul smells in the area. It’s been the subject of long gazes as students pass by on their way to class. But what is “it?”
A hot water leak has caused an area in between the Student Services building and Marshall Student Center to be closed off to make way for repairs, according to university spokesman Aaron Nichols.
Nichols said these repairs, which have been active since Monday, have caused hot water used for heating in the Student Services and John and Grace Allen buildings to be temporarily shut off.
The repairs will likely be completed by Tuesday evening, Nichols said. At 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a construction vehicle and a hole exposing a pipe were still seen in the area.
It was unknown what caused the leak, or when the repairs will be completed, at the time of publication.
