Shane McClanahan becomes first Bull in All-Star Game
Former USF southpaw Shane McClanahan became the first South Florida alumni to play and start in the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
In his start, he gave up four hits and two runs.
Though McClanahan didn’t feature one of his star outings, the American League claimed a 3-2 win over the National League.
Now one of the pitchers in the running for the Cy Young, McClanahan went into the break with a 10-3 record with 18 starts and a 0.80 WHIP. He is the first pitcher in MLB history to go into All-Stars with these numbers.
After only entering his second full season as a Ray, McClanahan received the most votes in the American League and was announced as the starter Monday. With his 1.71 ERA and 147 strikeouts, the choice was easy for most.
In a reply to an interview with coach Billy Mohl and McClanahan, it was easy to see Mohl couldn’t be more proud of the success he has achieved.

I soaked […]
