Women’s soccer jumps to 18th in Top Drawer Soccer rankings
The USF women’s soccer team rose to 18th in Top Drawer Soccer’s national rankings on Tuesday, moving seven spots in the poll after being ranked No. 25 last week.
The Bulls (2-0, 1-0 AAC) are undefeated and have yet to concede a goal this season. Following wins in their two opening regular-season matches against Temple and Florida Atlantic, the Bulls ascended in the rankings. USF joins top-ranked FSU as the only Florida schools to crack the top 25.
A tight defense could be pivotal for success. Coach Denise Schilte-Brown’s sturdy back line will be put to the test Saturday, however, when the Bulls face UF in Gainesville.
While the previous match between the teams ended in a USF victory in November 2019 during the NCAA tournament, the Gators (3-7-1, 1-6-1 SEC) are coming off a 5-1 victory over Charleston on Feb. 20.
USF will hope to keep its defensive prowess against a potent Gators attack that boasts redshirt senior midfielder Parker Roberts, who has four goals and three assists.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday.
