USF football home opener reportedly scrapped
USF’s nonconference schedule has taken a hit.
The Bulls’ home opener against Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 12 has reportedly been canceled after the MEAC canceled all fall sports, including football, according to multiple reports.
HBCU Sports publisher Kenn Rashad was the first to report the conference was set to make an announcement. His report was later confirmed by Stadium’s Brett McMurphy and The Athletic’s Nicole Auerbach.
Sources are telling me that the MEAC will be making an announcement to cancel all fall sports.

As it stands now, USF’s first home game will come Sept. 19 against Nevada, a week after the game against Bethune-Cookman was supposed to be played.
The MEAC is the third division I conference to cut its fall sports schedule, following in the Ivy and Patriot League’s footsteps.
Multiple leagues have announced all-conference only schedules for the football season, including the Big Ten and the PAC-12. None of USF’s opponents were affected by those leagues’ announcements.
For leagues that have not made a decision regarding 2020 fall sports schedules, reports indicate decisions will be made at the end of July.
This is a developing story.
