USF Publix employee tests positive for COVID-19
An associate at the USF Publix tested positive for COVID-19, according to a corporate email sent Sunday evening to all employees.
In the email, Publix stated that “all Publix associates who worked directly with the affected associate(s) have been notified and are undertaking self-quarantine at home for the period recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).” Located on East Fletcher Avenue, the USF Publix did not comment by the time of publication.
A current employee, who asked to remain anonymous, said Publix did not reveal what department the infected employee worked in. They said the only communication received so far was the email from the corporate office.
“After managers review security cam footage, they contact the employees that worked closely with the infected employee and told specific precautions [to take],” the employee said.
Besides informing staff about the recent COVID-19 case, Publix highlighted in the email the importance of being transparent as well as taking precautions to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
“We feel that transparency in this emerging public health situation is of utmost importance in order to ensure the health and safety of all Publix associates, your families and our customers.”
