Building repairs total $33,900 after crash
After 74-year-old hematologist Hussain Saba crashed his car into the Carol and Frank Morsani Center for Advanced Health on Jan. 3, the building suffered $33,900 worth of damages.
Estimates for the damages to the building, including window and frame repair, came more than a week after the accident from campus facilities contractors, said Joseph Jackson, director of managed care and clinical facilities at USF Health. According to documents from USF contractors, most of the cost comes from replacement of the glass, which is estimated to cost almost $15,000.
Jackson, as well as Anne DeLotto Baier, director of public affairs at USF Health, confirmed that Saba, who lost control of the car, is in normal condition and has been at work for USF Health all week. Jackson said the cost for the repairs to the building and glass replacement will be paid for by Sabas auto insurance. Saba could not be contacted for comment by time of print.
