Falla sets career-high in win over Stetson
Senior first baseman Jimmy Falla had a career-high of four base hits to help USF defeat Stetson 12–8 at USF Baseball Stadium on Tuesday night.
The senior reached base safely in his first four at-bats of the ballgame.
“He was locked in,” coach Lelo Prado said.
Falla finished 4-for-5 and drove in two runs, giving the Bulls an 8-2 lead early.
He ripped an RBI double down the line in the first and then slipped a single in between short and third for another run in the fourth.
Prado said he was pleased with Falla’s performance at the plate and hopes that he will continue to produce against Pittsburgh, the Big East conference rival that the Bulls play at the end of the week.
“He had great at-bats today,” Prado said. “Hopefully he’ll carry that over to the weekend.”
No. 30-ranked Pitt is on a nine-game winning streak and has scored five or more runs in eight out of its last 10 contests.
Prado said he thinks pitching and an execution of the fundamentals will be the keys to a positive outcome versus the Panthers.
“We have to throw strikes and play the game the right way,” he said.
The Bulls (15-14) face Pittsburgh (20-6, 3-0) at the USF Baseball Stadium for the first match-up of a three-game set beginning at 7 p.m on Friday.

I soaked […]

USF campus ministers offer perspective on stadium development: ‘Exciting benefit of exposure.’
Take a tranquil stroll down Sycamore Drive. It’s a quieter part of campus, hidden away from the usual hustle and bustle of USF. It’s home to an area colloquially known as “Religious Row,” a collection of on-campus religious organizations. In just a few years – with the construction of an on-campus football stadium – the […]
