Fraternity hopes to get ‘case resolved’
Sigma Phi Epsilon President Ryan Kearns said Tuesday that the fraternity is cooperating with University Police (UP) as they continue an investigation of sexual battery and false imprisonment that allegedly occurred at the fraternity house.
“If the police have any questions, we will answer them,” Kearns said. “We’re hoping to get the case resolved.”
An 18-year-old female told UP she was pulled into a room against her will and “inappropriately touched” at the fraternity house Saturday.
The incident was reported to UP at approximately 8:50 p.m. Saturday, UP spokeswoman Lt. Meg Ross said.
Kearns did not specify what was happening at the fraternity house the night of the alleged incident.
“It was a normal night for us, nothing out of the ordinary,” Kearns said.
Kearns said he’s unaware of when the alleged incident occurred.
“It’s very confusing for us out of all the things we’re hearing,” he said. “There are inconsistencies.”
He said the fraternity is helping authorities reach a conclusion as to “who did this.”
Kearns said there is reason to believe the alleged incident did not happen at the fraternity house.
