Men wanted for women’s soccer practice
The regular season is right around the corner for the USF women’s soccer team, and coach Denise Schilte-Brown is looking for help from male students with experience playing soccer.
After going 11-5-3 last season, Schilte-Brown is looking for way to better prepare the Bulls this year and to improve their record.
“It’s great for the girls to have that physical challenge that men bring to our training,” Schilte-Brown said.
The concept of having men at practice isn’t anunfamiliar strategy to the Bulls and it’s something thatSchilte-Brown looks to bring to the team again, with more male participants this year.
“We had a couple of male practice players last year and it was great,” Schilte-Brown said. “They worked hard and they challenged us at practice.”
Interested USF males can get involved by contacting assistant coach Chris Brown.
“As long as they have previous experience playing soccer for a club or at their high schools, we wouldwelcome them and we would be grateful for the help and participation,” Schilte-Brown said.
With USF practicing three times a week during fall, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., interested players must be available during that time.
Overall, having males adds something to the team that the Bulls don’t necessarily have without them, Schilte-Brown said.
“They just brought a dynamic that was good for us,” she said.
