Bulls receive Big East honors
Linebacker Jacquian Williams was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week, and kicker Maikon Bonani was named Special Teams Player of the Week for their performances in last week’s 28-27 win over Rutgers.
Williams, who sacked Rutgers quarterback Chas Dodd on fourth-and-three with the Scarlet Knights in USF territory late in the fourth quarter, had a career-high 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
Bonani went 2-for-2 on field goal attempts, including a season-long 47-yarder that tied the game 17-17 before halftime.
Senior running back Mo Plancher, who rushed for a career-high 135 yards on 21 carries, was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll.
Snyder impressed with Louisville offense
USF defensive coordinator Mark Snyder acknowledged after Sunday’s practice how much Louisville’s offense has improved this season.
Under first-year coach Charlie Strong, the Cardinals rank second in the conference in scoring offense with 398.1 yards per game and first in rushing yards per game (193.3), rushing touchdowns (14) and yards per carry (5.3).
Louisville senior running back Bilal Powell has gained 1,067 yards through nine games this season, averaging 133 yards per game and 7 yards per carry.
“They’re pretty good on offense,” Snyder said. “They’re impressive. This is one of the better offenses we have played or will play.”
Kickoff set
USF’s home game against Pittsburgh on Nov. 20 has been announced as a noon kickoff. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
