Injuries plague Bulls

Freshman wide receiver Travis Lipp will not play in Saturday’s game against Liberty. Lipp, who started the last two games, including being the Bulls’ leading receiver against Connecticut, will be sidelined with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. The injury happened during Lipp’s last reception against Southern Utah.

Also missing the game Saturday will be special team player Johnnie Jones, who is out with a sore back.

Another Jones questionable for the game is sophomore strong-side linebacker Maurice Jones, who has a sore shoulder. Starting in his spot this week will be freshman Jason Allen.

Another injured player this week is Tavares Jurineack, who is questionable with a sore ankle suffered during practice.

Challenge from the coach

At a groundbreaking ceremony for housing for Greeks and athletes Wednesday, USF men’s basketball coach Seth Greenberg made a challenge to the student body to support his team.

“When you see those people on TV with baskets on their heads and their faces painted, do those people look like they’re having a bad time?” Greenberg said.

Greenberg said USF needed to start a tradition of camping outside of the Sun Dome in tents before home games, especially for games like the one against in-state rival Florida on Dec. 8 and Conference USA rivals such as Charlotte on Jan. 18. He said he would provide the “pizza at night and doughnuts in the morning.”He also said he would make sure that those participating in the “tent city” would have the best seats for the home games.
