Re: Editorial Cartoon by Jeff Sheridan, Feb. 5.
We realize that the loud sounds coming from the Phyllis P. Marshall Center construction site have been a major inconvenience for those students who live in the residence halls nearby and for those who work and go to classes in adjacent buildings. We recognized that this was going to have an impact on the campus, but it was unavoidable.
To ensure that this phase of construction took as short a time as possible, we worked with the contractor to bring a second pile driver machine on-site so that we could expedite the process. There is light at the end of the tunnel, as the pile driving is expected to end around Feb. 23. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while this part of the construction is underway.
In the summer of 2008, USF’s world-class student center will open and offer a new gathering place for the University. We invite everyone to visit the Marshall Center’s Web site for more information, ww.ctr.usf.edu.
Joe Synovec is the director of the Marshall Center.
