12-game win streak snapped in blowout loss
The winning streak has come to an end after 12 wins in a row over a span of three weeks. The Bulls have lost.
USF (26-15) was defeated by UF (23-19) by a score of 12-1 on Tuesday night. Things got out of hand quickly for the Bulls, and they weren’t able to find their way back into the game.
The Bulls’ sole run of the game was the first one of the game scored in the second inning. USF had a 1-0 lead against the Gators for three innings.
Junior Janick Serrallonga came in with runners on the corners and by the time he recorded the second out of the inning, the Gators had a 5-1 lead.
After that, it would only get worse as the Bulls couldn’t put together an offensive attack all night.
During their winning streak, the USF bullpen had been one of the highlights of the team, but last night it was the downfall.
Eleven runs crossed the plate against relief pitchers, making it difficult for the Bulls’ offense to keep up.
While the Bulls didn’t want the streak to end, the loss came to a ranked team that is not in their conference.
Coming off the loss, the Bulls will head back home as Friday night starts an inner conference series against St. John’s in which USF will look to keep a firm grip on its first place status in the Big East.
