Fernandez hospitalized again

USF women’s basketball coach Jose Fernandez was readmitted to the hospital, for the second time in two weeks, Sunday morning after a delayed allergic reaction.

This stay follows his admission two weeks ago due to diverticulitis, or inflammation of the large intestine’s wall. The allergic reaction was caused by prescribed
medication, according to the Tampa Bay Times

During Fernandez’s previous medical absence, associate head coach Jeff Osterman took over during the team’s 79-59 loss to No. 5 Louisville on Feb. 2.

As of Monday, Fernandez remains in the progressive care unit as doctors try to find the exact cause of his reaction.

A release date has not been set for him.

The Bulls’ next game is Sunday against No. 1 UConn at the Sun Dome.
