Mens hoops home venue split finalized
The question of where the USF men’s basketball team will spend next season as the Sun Dome undergoes renovations has been partially solved.
While venues for Big East home games haven’t been officially announced, the release of the seven-game non-conference home schedule confirms that three games will be played downtown at the St. Pete Times Forum, three will be played at the University of Tampa and one will be played at the Lakeland Center.
USF will open its season Nov. 12 at UT against Vermont before hosting Marist at the Forum two days later. Those games will be part of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tournament. Depending on results, a match-up with Kentucky may await the Bulls. The Wildcats advanced to the Final Four last season.
The Forum will also host USF games against Georgia Southern and Cleveland State. The Bob Martinez Sports Center at UT will host games against Florida Atlantic and Florida A&M.
The Bulls will travel to Lakeland to play Florida Southern.
USF last played at the Forum in February – a 72-49 loss to Syracuse. Orange fans far outnumbered USF fans inside the building, with Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim estimated that up to eight thousand of the 10,051 fans were wearing orange.
