Wide receiver will not face charges

Wide receiver Jackie Chambers, who was in a physical altercation with non-USF student Cedel Thomassin at his Holly apartment on Jan. 10, will not be charged in the incident, the state attorney’s office said Wednesday.

The original charge was affray, a misdemeanor offense for fighting in public, but the attorney’s office is declining to press charges due to recanted information and statements made by both parties.

According to the police report, a window was broken during the altercation, and as a result, Thomassin received injuries and was taken to University Community Hospital.

Thomassin had been staying with Chambers and his roommates, and as the report stated, Chambers had become unhappy with the condition of the apartment.

Chambers, a 21-year-old sophomore from Miami, was third on the team in receiving with 21 catches for 290 yards in 2005.
