Interviews set to begin for Arts and Sciences dean

Interviews of the five finalists for the position of dean of the College of Arts and Sciences begin Monday.

Kathleen Heide, who took over as interim dean last fall when former dean Renu Khator became provost, is among the finalists. The college, USF’s largest, includes more than 17,000 students and 500 faculty members.

The finalists are: John Skvoretz, interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts at the University of South Carolina, who opens the interviews Monday and Tuesday; Heide, whose interview will be Oct. 4-5; Mary Jane Hurst, associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Texas Tech, interviewing Oct. 7-8; Kathleen Dewalt, director of the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, who interviews Oct. 18-19; and James Rigby, chairman of the department of chemistry at Wayne State Interview, to be interviewed Oct. 21-22.
